What you’ll be doing:

Wunderman Thompson is looking for a technology leader with a passion for thought leadership and a wealth of experience strategically advising businesses across wide ranging industries on staying ahead in the constantly evolving digital landscape.

You will form part of our senior leadership team and will bring to the table trends and opportunities emerging around the use of technology, you’ll show the art of the possible to the worlds leading brands, and bring together technology specialists from across the group to deliver excellent work.

You’re excited by seeking new opportunities for growth both by developing new client relationships and nurturing existing ones. You will provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders that is honest and agnostic ensuring that we are a trusted partner known for creating value.

Instead of directly managing a team of technologists you will connect our customer needs with the capabilities of Wunderman Thompson Technology which is home to 4,000 specialists across 33 countries, creating multi-disciplinary teams that act as partners to our clients. This makes informal leadership skills paramount for this role.

Representing our technology capabilities

This role plays a key part in ensuring that our technology capabilities are able to be brought to our clients in a clear and understandable service offering.

You will help to raise the visibility of our broad technology capabilities as part of this full service offering, including showcasing our capabilities with thought leadership editorial pieces, presenting on behalf of Wunderman Thompson at partner and industry events, and raising brand awareness.

Leading strategic technology consultancy

As part of cross-functional teams leading client accounts, you will be responsible for understanding and communicating the various approaches to achieving a mature technology ecosystem, being able to understand the client’s vertical and adapt as appropriate based on experience.

You will help to demystify buzz words and help get to the core challenges faced by our clients, helping them to build business cases and strategic roadmaps for technology investment that drive customer value and satisfaction.

Identify, shape and respond to growth opportunities

Responding to – and challenging – briefs is an important part of how agencies strike long lasting partnerships with clients, getting the early chemistry right by showing deep understanding of their challenges and bringing experience and new ideas into the mix.

You’ll be working alongside our client partners and business directors to identify opportunities for technology solutions to support our existing client base, as well as helping to respond to new business, bringing together the relevant specialists from across our extensive technology capabilities.

When opportunities are identified to bring new specialisms to our clients, you will support shaping the business cases for investing in building new capabilities within the group.

Supporting clients throughout their growth journey

Each of our client accounts is supported by a set of exec sponsors and leaders from key disciplines, ensuring that projects are set to be successful, acting as a point of escalation, taking feedback on how to improve the relationship and providing advice to senior stakeholders as and when strategic objectives arise or change for our clients.

You will work alongside client partners as the sponsor for technology, being the ultimate point of escalation for any concerns around approach to technology delivery, and the go-to person for senior client stakeholders to explore their needs before drawing on support from other specialisms.

Shaping ways of working

To be able to deliver excellent work for our clients we must bring multi-disciplinary teams together often from different offices in EMEA or even globally; achieving this requires a common understanding of how to approach each stage of a digital programme from discovery all the way to post-launch iteration and evolution.

You will work with operational, delivery, and technology focused leaders across the business units within Wunderman Thompson to streamline our operating model and ways of working, eliminating any points of duplication or inefficiency, aligning on clearly understandable roles and responsibilities. 

Building and leveraging partnerships

We partner with over 50 technology vendors, some of which are long standing relationships with a highly collaborative approach to helping clients find the right solutions to digital challenges.

You will need to be actively involved with some of our top technology vendors both understanding and contributing to their roadmaps based on insights from our clients, as well as actively looking for opportunities to collaborate on new business together.

Who you are:

  • A proven technology leader that has brought together large scale distributed teams
  • A passion for how technology can improve peoples’ lives
  • Proven track record in supporting the pre-sales efforts and subsequent successful end to end delivery of £2M+ market leading digital client experiences / programmes of work
  • A strong strategic thinker with experience guiding customers through complexity towards a roadmap for technology, responding to customer needs and articulating solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders including those at executive level
  • Contributed to the operational success of businesses (including improving ways of working, budget management, contract management etc)
  • Commercially astute with experience in team sizing, project estimation and various commercial models
  • Utilised both waterfall and agile methodologies in project delivery and conversant at guiding stakeholders on the benefits of agile ways of working
  • Solid understanding of a broad set of technologies including Content, Commerce, CRM, Data to emerging experiences such as Chatbots, Voice UI, AR/VR and digital experiences
  • A confident presenter to internal and external audiences in multiple contexts from account updates and company-wide knowledge sharing, new business pitches to showcasing emerging ideas and insights in industry forums
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across functions, business divisions and geographical locations.
  • Well established within the wider marketing technology industry with an existing network of collaborators and partners
