Who we are looking for:

Wunderman Thompson Commerce is seeking an experienced Shopper Strategy Director to lead the discipline responsible for Shopper Marketing strategy and activation for all channels, formats and platforms across our portfolio of clients. You will develop the shopper strategy, working with the account, creative, media, social and analytics teams. You will report to the VP of Strategy with the position based preferably in Chicago-based, but we are open for the role to be remote within the US. 

What you'll do:

  • Determine | Determine category challenges, opportunities and competitive landscape. 
  • Shopper Journeys | Build shopper journeys and establish campaign success through goal identification with the Analytics team. 
  • Strategic Framework | Create strategic framework by identifying brand, category retailer and shopper-specific barriers, insights and Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD). 
  • Translate | Translate strategic intent into a cross-channel activation plan to create specific commerce outcomes across national and retailer activations. 
  • Partner | Partner with client leadership on brief development to include brand communication message and priorities and outline campaign goals.

What you'll need:

  • Minimum of 10 years of agency experience in shopper strategy and activation. 
  • Intimate knowledge of retailer ecosystems and shopper profiles. 
  • Experience with both long-form content creation and real-time (immediate) content creation and distribution strategies and tactics. 
  • A master of storytelling, you will take complicated copy, content and ideas and summarize them into presentation decks that are convincing, engaging, and easy to understand. 
  • An understand of retailer marketplace landscapes (Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, Instacart, and Target) for full understanding of a shopper's journey both in-store and online.
