Who we are looking for:

Wunderman Thompson is seeking an Email Developer Lead for our Seattle office. The Email Dev Lead is a subject matter expert and seasoned developer in the field of email development and delivery. They are passionate about the industry, stay on top of trends and are able to communicate that information to various audiences. The Email Dev Lead creates advanced email campaigns and provides solutions for fellow development team members. They will implement best practices in the coding and development of email campaigns for our clients, delivering long-term solutions for email production efficiency and accuracy. Strong HTML and CSS hand-coding skills with the ability to troubleshoot email rendering bugs is a must.

 What you'll do: 

  • Create | Code, test, review and maintain email templates according to industry-standard best practices. Create optimized assets for desktop and mobile from creative design files. Evolve our modular template library as business needs change.
  • Facilitate | Provide guidance to development and QA teams regarding campaign requirements, best practices, and bug fixes. Act as a mentor for offshore dev teams.
  • Teamwork | Collaborate with Designers and Project Managers to confirm feasibility of creative concepts and campaign requirements.
  • Best Practices | Apply knowledge of email industry trends and developments to ongoing code improvements. Establish and evolve best practices, processes, documentation and training materials.

Who you are: 

  • A Strong Communicator | You’re an excellent communicator (both written and verbal) with exceptional analytical skills.
  • Detail-Oriented | You have sharp attention to detail and a drive for perfection.
  • A Collaborator | You display organizational and teamwork skills. You’re comfortable working in a collaborative environment with QA, Project Managers, Designers, Marketing Scientists, and other Developers.
  • Optimistic and Resilient | You dig in and figure out how to work around problems. You can prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously. You’re able to function in a high pressure / high ambiguity environment.

What you'll need:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience coding and testing responsive HTML emails using HTML and CSS.
  • Advanced knowledge of email rendering, deliverability, and testing.
  • Ability to write functions in a scripting language (AMPscript, FreeMarker, etc.).
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Campaign or a similar enterprise platform.
  • Experience with testing tools such as Litmus, Email on Acid, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or XD.
  • Advanced experience developing modular email template systems is preferred.
