Who we are looking for: 

Wunderman Thompson Health is seeking a Medical and Regulatory Editor for our Kansas City office. The Medical and Regulatory Editor is responsible for ensuring all editorial work meets the quality standards as defined by the timelines, guidelines, and regulatory/compliance measures set forth by internal and client teams. (S)he will manage the edit, review, and quality assurance stages of the scientific, promotional, and unbranded content created by our teams, and should therefore be comfortable working across multiple mediums (e.g., print, digital, social), multiple audiences (e.g., HCP, Patient, Consumer), and multiple client/brand style guides.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage | Serve as the lead editor for the Kansas City team, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of accuracy and compliance. 
  • Source and hire freelance editorial staff as necessary. Maintain comprehensive style guides.
  • Editorial  | Ensure all content is grammatically and factually correct, accurately referenced, follows agency, client and branding style guidelines and FDA/OPDP requirements. Provide insight and guidance on best editorial practices throughout the agency. Create and/or maintain client and brand style guidelines. Recommend refinements to the editorial operating model, and identify workflow and business process improvements within the department. Multitask and prioritize deliverables based on deadline. 

Who you are:

  • Detail Oriented | Excellent spelling, proofreading, copy editing, and fact-checking skills. Fluent understanding of AMA and AP style guidelines. Solid experience in working with medical writers, copywriters, and others responsible for the creation of clinical, scientific, and promotional materials within the healthcare industry. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Collaborator | Proven ability to self-manage as well as manage and mentor editors and workflow. Capable of working both independently and in a team environment.

What you’ll need: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree; degree in Journalism/English/Biological Sciences or other relevant disciplines is an advantage
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years editorial experience 
  • Detail-oriented and meticulous with superior organizational skills and pride of ownership for projects
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat and ProofHQ to proofread and copyedit.
