The Compete & Market Intelligence group is the business center of excellence for all external Market Intelligence that cut across all Segments & Business Groups. The team drives clear business & marketing insights that support strategic, growth and share oriented business plans and governance activities.
The Market Intelligence (MI) Manager enables decision-makers within the area/subsidiary to make informed decisions, scope and size market opportunities, and identify threats by generating, analyzing and delivering market insights and trends, conducting market research, and making strategic recommendations. The role is a key contributor to subsidiary planning and reviews, growth modeling and opportunity sizing, and long-term strategic planning.
He or she is passionate about data and gets a unique end-to-end view on the client business from the addressable markets and performance vs competition perspective and serves as a trusted advisor for the area/subsidiary leadership teams on these matters. It’s the only role in Field organization which provides MI discipline expertise for their area/subsidiary, and also acts as area/subsidiary liaison for all market research related projects. MI Managers are landing, localizing and providing feedback on behalf of their area/subsidiary for Corp-initiated market research, overseeing locally initiated market-research and research vendor relationships.



Drive impact through conceptualizing and landing the end field growth plans (short term & aspirational)

• Demonstrate new ways of growth potential by scientifically building innovative views on opportunity. Foster trust and confidence with the stakeholders by strongly partnering and leading the process from opportunity assessment to action plan tracking
• Land impact by focussing MI tools and processes towards addressing the key issues in the area/ subsidiary
• Develop a solid gap analysis which prescribes resources that can be leveraged from corporate vs. driven locally to enable a solid evidence backed view on top opportunities
• Further the impact by unlocking the story behind the data and numbers. Partner with Corp teams for assistance around data aggregation.
• Develop a globally consistent and comprehensive framework (and tool) to identify growth opportunities for each area/sub to support growth hacking initiatives and fiscal year planning


Be a local subject matter expert for market research and analytics & as the trusted advisor to the leadership team

• Land global market intelligence data and insights, including, but not limited to the following reports: Business & Economic Update (including Economic Heatmap), MEA Industry Insights, Executive Market Indicators, IT, Software and Cloud Market Forecast (MPF), Share Dashboard, Share Tracker and Share Planner , Devices Market Forecast, CMI, Competitor Revenue Model
• Deliver local market data and insights to key stakeholders as planned in the annual MI plan, manage budgets and vendor resources to accomplish it. Develop customized area deliverables.
• Drive the single version of truth and provide relevant input to the global MI teams to improve the quality of the above deliverables.
• Orchestrate all major market primary and secondary research projects and investments within the subsidiary, including regional and/or global trackers and syndicated research.
• Maintain local market intelligence portal, leveraging regional and corporate resources, tools and systems as required to fulfill your stakeholders’ needs for data and insights. Provide periodic updates on new data & insights availability.


Land solid support during Planning and Business Reviews and all key ROB Milestones

• Explore models for MI involvement & orchestration in critical milestones like Blueprint, segmentation, planning etc. to be able to land MI impact at a much broader & strategic level.
• Conduct integrated analysis of multiple sources to convert data into actionable insights.
• Produce localized versions of corporate MI deliverables where appropriate (Global Economic Update, IT, Software & Cloud Market, Devices Market, Server Market, etc.).
• Ensure accurate interpretation of market and competitors data within area/subsidiary.
• Drive effective integration of market and competitors


Expertize with ad-hoc requirements: Support area/subsidiary stakeholders with integrated insights associated with customized requirements

Provide Market Intelligence discipline expertise, including the development of a research brief and commissioning process for ad hoc research projects, ensuring these are conducted in compliance with privacy, intellectual property and competitive intelligence policies as well as market research norms and standards.
• Own the relationship with all local market research vendors, sign off scopes and contracts for all market research projects.
• Make sure all the research which are commissioned under your supervision in your area/subsidiary are shared to the designated repositories, to be accessed by the relevant local, regional and corporate teams.


Drive the Compete (Market) Intelligence function for the area

• Develop innovative tools an for accurate measurement around market white space and strategies for competitor win-backs
• Contribute to planning of compete activities with the latest market and compete intelligence.
• Have Annual MI Plan aligned with the Compete initiatives.
• Effectively share compete insights across the area, making sure these are easily accessible for local decision makers and their feedback to Corp.
• Providing field teams with detailed tracking and analysis across the priority competitors
• Manage CI vendors in compliance with Competitive Intelligence Policy.
• Serve ad-hoc CI requests from key stakeholders, aligned with Compete lead on priorities and resources availability.




• At least 5 years of practical experience in market research development, analysis and drawing of strategic business conclusions.

Skills & Knowledge

• Client Business acumen: must interpret Market Intelligence needs from various planning memos and interactions with internal stakeholders.
• Passionate about data with advanced analytical and interpretative capabilities to transform massive amount of information from numerous sources into meaningful insights.
• Excellent communication, data visualization and presentation skills – able to write newsletter with Exec level insights.
• Exec maturity to effectively manage priorities, budgets and vendors and drive discussions with Area and Sub Leadership teams.
Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A) required, relevant fields of study include math, market research, marketing, information technology or computer science. MBA preferred.
• Marketing, research and project management certifications are a plus.
