We offer deep expertise across the entire customer journey, including communications, commerce, consultancy, CRM, CX, data, production, and technology.
Who we are
WPP is the global leader in marketing and communications services and one of the world’s largest creative transformation companies.
WPP has created a start-up in the end-to-end Commerce space, Everymile. We are building out a business with a ground-breaking offering that none of our Agency Network competitors have managed to launch into yet.
Within Everymile, we are leveraging WPP’s strength in consumer demand generation, best in class commerce technologies and leading external partnerships to deliver for clients a fully managed commerce service. The service will incorporate the design, build and operation of omni channel digital commerce; everything from website development to supply chain and fulfilment.
We have a strong C#/.Net development team who’ve been administering our database on an
ad-hoc basis. Last year we engaged with a Managed Service Provider to provide out of
hours support and monitoring. We’re now looking for someone to join the development team
as a Development DBA to help us put some more rigour around our database procedures.
You will be working for the Software Engineering Manager, and working closely with the
development team, to achieve the following goals:
● Identify and optimise expensive queries (CPU, IO, Waits)
● Introduce controls for schema changes
● Audit roles and users
● Clean up a large number of questionable UDFs and SPROCs
● Support the developers in migrating from a monolithic application to discrete services
● Automated archiving and purging of data
● On-prem SQL Server 2016
● Stored Procedures
● User Defined Functions
● Always On Availability Groups
● Query plan analysis
● Index optimisation
● Schema versioning/migration
● Large (>1 terabyte) databases
Desirable skills/Opportunity to learn:
● SentryOne SQL Server monitoring
● Other technologies, e.g. redis, message queues
