What we are looking for?

As a Planning Director at WT, it is your job to understand what it takes to help a client’s business succeed. We do this through a superior understanding of the business, the brand, the audience and the cultural context, of all combined.

In your role as lead on Microsoft, you will work with a combination of marketing clients, data experts, creatives, experience designers and management consultants from across the integrated agency.

We’ll expect you to be brilliant at the following:

  • You’re considered an expert in the fields of B2B, CRM, digital, and demand generation, within the agency and the industry.
  • Owning the strategic vision for the brands and the accounts that you work on. You inspire and encourage innovative and disruptive creativity at every opportunity with internal and client teams.
  • Setting expectations and create the structure to deliver disruptive creative work, challenging your CD and BD to think differently.
  • You have extensive knowledge of the commercial drivers of your client business, and work in partnership with senior stakeholders within the client organisation to deliver commercially-led marketing strategies. You are always looking to disrupt and improve on what has been done before.
  • Setting the long term strategic direction for WT’s biggest clients: lead the agenda, ensure WT stays on the front foot and always champions the best and most disruptive thinking, challenging the status quo when necessary.
  • Making your team hungry and you have a positive presence in the wider agency that halos onto the strategy department reputation.
  • Creating, driving and participating in the wider agency culture, business agenda, and external profile.

What you will be doing?

  • Your will leading one of WT’s biggest, and most exciting accounts, Microsoft.
  • You’ll have a team of three planners reporting into you, and helping to shape the future of the account.
  • You will be directly helping to create some of the best work of your career.
  • And you will play a leading role in shaping the 40-strong planning department and the role it plays in achieving great things at Wunderman Thompson London.

Who you are?

First off, the technical stuff:

  • Currently a planning director level candidate, with 3+ years of experience.
  • Experienced in creating and crafting digital, CRM, and business strategies, leading teams, inspiring Clients and Creatives alike and showing that you’ve been responsible for some great work.
  • An integrated thinker, able to work across multiple channels with a broad and open mind.
  • Global experience where you’ve led the thinking and the team.
  • The craft skills, the models, the know-how that comes from having a few years under your belt.

Now the softer, but just as important stuff

  • An ambitious, curious, brave and modern human.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, and someone who enjoys a good pitch challenge.
  • Naturally, intuitively, decidedly collaborative, who gets along with everyone, not just the occasional one.
  • Great presentation skills (obviously) that can knock the socks off any audience anywhere.
  • Someone who enjoys a good debate and is skilled at crafting a winning argument.
  • A degree of some sort will help us understand your background and point of view.
  • Someone who believe it’s more important to be interesting that to be right.
  • A sense of humour, a sense of perspective and the emotional intelligence to not be annoying, a blocker, arrogant or just a plain pain in the arse!

At Wunderman Thompson, we are committed to actively building a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcomed, valued and heard, and is treated with dignity and respect.  As leaders and creative partners across industries, it is our responsibility to cultivate an environment reflective of our greatest asset; our people.
