The Role:
Wunderman Thompson is looking for a proven Senior Accountant to work with their assigned business unit as well as North American Finance & Accounting teams. They will focus their time on all accounting efforts for specific client groups within Wunderman Thompson. This person will be ambitious, collaborative, and motivated to work with key team members and diverse teams to execute a world-class accounting and financial operating model. The ideal candidate will be both a strong accounting partner and a leader. They will hit all benchmarks and recognize and wherever possible, increase revenue.
The ideal candidate must be deeply curious about new methodologies, financial technologies and thinking. They will be a passionate problem solver and hands on, critical analyst who values innovative ideas, creativity, and elegant solutions. They will work closely with their practice leader as well as be interested in working across teams and improving both Wunderman Thompson’s and our clients’ businesses and bottom lines. They will understand the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and while eschewing silos, this person will be part of a team that shares a passion for finding great experiences, challenges existing ones, and inspires the future for our business.
Responsibilities:
- Perform the tasks necessary to ensure the execution of daily accounting operations for your assigned unit
- Assist in monthly closing activities to ensure the timely submission of the various financial reporting packages to our North American Regional Team
- Apply accounting policies and procedures correctly and consistently
- Prepare journal entries for your business unit or review the journal entries submitted by other accountants
- Work with our Shared Service Center to ensure vendors are paid, customer setup is complete, and accounting transactions are properly recorded
- Respond to queries relating to our reported figures
- Assist in the resolution of matters between your business unit and other business units in our organization
- Perform the control activities assigned to you within our internal control framework
- Work with the Accounting Manager to prepare the following:
- Monthly submission of various financial reporting packages
- P&L analysis and commentary
- Analysis of Balance Sheet account reconciliations
- Settlement of intercompany balances each month, as well as payment of vendor invoices as they come due
- Assist business unit client finance teams and assist in other ad hoc projects as needed
Requirements:
- Previous experience (e.g., 3+ years) in an advertising, media, management consulting or technology company is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years relevant accounting-based work experience.
- Experience in both accounting operations, (e.g., close the books), and technical accounting, (e.g., debits and credits)
- Experience in public company environment and internal controls over financial reporting
- Motivated professional capable of completing tasks and satisfying deadlines in an environment that is dynamic
- Strong experience with advanced MS Excel is required
- Experience using the Workday ERP is highly beneficial
