The Role

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Email Developer to join our digital team. As an Email Developer, you will play a crucial role in crafting visually appealing and responsive email campaigns that engage customers and drive business growth for News UK’s brands. You will collaborate with our creative and design teams to transform their concepts into polished and effective email communications. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and email best practices, along with an eye for design and excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Email Campaign Development: Create and code HTML email templates from scratch or customise existing templates based on the marketing team's requirements and design guidelines.
  • Responsive Design: Ensure that all email templates are optimised for various devices and email clients, delivering a consistent user experience across desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Email Testing: Conduct thorough testing to verify email rendering, responsiveness, and functionality across different email clients, browsers, and devices to ensure a flawless user experience.
  • Compatibility Management: Troubleshoot and resolve any rendering issues, cross-client compatibility problems, and other technical challenges to ensure consistent email deliverability and display.
  • Content Integration: Integrate dynamic content, personalised elements, and relevant images into email templates to enhance user engagement and increase conversion rates.
  • Email Marketing Best Practices: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in email marketing to optimise email performance and deliverability.
  • Email Automation: Assist in setting up automated email campaigns, including triggered emails, drip campaigns, and transactional emails, ensuring their smooth functioning.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the creative and design teams to understand campaign objectives and collaborate effectively to deliver visually compelling and impactful emails.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of all email campaigns to ensure accuracy, branding consistency, and adherence to company guidelines.

Requirements

  • Proficient in HTML and CSS: Strong knowledge of hand-coding HTML and CSS is essential, with a focus on responsive design for various screen sizes.
  • Email-Specific Knowledge: Familiarity with email service providers and personalisation tools. Knowledge of Adobe Campaign and/or Movable Ink is preferable.
  • Design Knowledge: Ability to work with design software such as Adobe Photoshop and Sketch, and maintain a keen eye for detail to ensure accurate rendering and consistent branding.
  • Email Testing Tools: Experience using email testing tools and debugging techniques to resolve rendering issues across different platforms. Knowledge of Email on Acid is preferable.
  • Time Management: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to troubleshoot and find solutions independently.
