Improving Healthcare for Women: Challenging Inequity at Every Intersection

The year is 2021, yet health inequities continue to disproportionately impact women. The sources of inequity range from societal norms that ask more from women who are caregivers to systems and structures that contribute to suboptimal health outcomes for women, especially women from marginalized communities. The urgency to address these biases is especially critical in areas like oncology.

In a panel moderated by Wunderman Thompson Health Chief Medical Officer Dania Alarcon, Jill DeSimone, president of U.S. Oncology at Merck, Mary Ray, co-founder and COO of MyHealthTeams, and Wallye Holloway, Wunderman Thompson Health MD discuss the origins of inequity, the most meaningful touchpoints between women and health, and how marketers can promote better health equity for women in our world.

Health equity is when each person has the opportunity to reach her or his full health potential without facing the kind of obstacles we have identified as being the social determinants of health, such as access to healthcare professionals.
