The Innovation Group will be in Milan next week to cover design highlights at Salone del Mobile. Designers and brands from around the world will gather to showcase their latest designs, concepts and collaborations. Last year big brands such as Pepsi and Nike dominated headlines, we’re looking forward to seeing what this year will highlight. The event runs from April 4–9 for the general public.

Ikea plans to take over a warehouse in the Lambrate district for the Ikea Festival. The Swedish furniture giant is using the space to address urbanization (they forecast by 2050 approximately 70% of the world’s population will be city dwellers) and how they can redefine the living room with creative solutions. The festival will include exhibitions, talks and workshops, and even yoga by The Martinas.

Global fashion house COS are back in Milan with New Spring, a multi-sensory experience that reflects optimism and a sense of new beginnings. The installation is by design duo Studio Swine. “We wanted to encapsulate a lifespan of emotions in an instant,” Studio Swine said in a press release.

Quartz manufacturer Caesarstone has partnered with designer Jaime Hayon for Stone Age Folk on an installation that draws inspiration from the folklore of different cultures, aiming to show off the versatility of Caesarstone’s material. The installation pieces include dining tables and cabinets.

Airbnb is back this year with an installation that takes place inside a historic 15-century house (home to Leonardo da Vinci while he was painting the Last Supper). Curated by the founder of interior and design magazine Cabana, Martina Mondadori Sartogo, the house will feature a series of “intimate experiences.” Visitors are invited to discover hidden places in Milan.

YET by Lexus

Lexus has teamed by with Neri Oxman, designer and professor at the MIT Media Lab for the project “Yet.” “Yet” drives Lexus to explore visionary frontiers of design and technology that will shape tomorrow’s mobility,” says Yoshihiro Sawa, Lexus international executive vice-president, in a press release. In addition, the theme has been extended to the Lexus Design Award 2017, where up-and-coming designers exhibit their bespoke designs. The winner of the award will be announced on Monday, April 3.
