The Innovation Group is heading to Milan to cover arguably the most important event on the design calendar, Salone del Mobile. In its 55th edition, the event will feature an eclectic and global group of designers showcasing new works, from a kinetic light installation to innovative room concepts.

We have rounded up a preview of what will be in store for Milan’s design week, which kicks off on April 12.

Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto partners with global fashion house COS and takes over a former cinema to create the Forest of Light installation. Fujimoto fills the space with pulsating spotlights that capture and react to visitors’ movements. “The spotlight becomes an interface which connects fashion, space and forest as a form of architecture,” says Fujimoto.

No Sex by Atelier Biagetti
Piazza Arcole 4

“In an age where libido is a business and is sold everywhere, the absence of it is considered a medical condition.” This is the foundation of No Sex, a clinic designed to help visitors find the right sexual balance. The clinic tackles a modern issue, which goes to show that a design fair is about broader, cultural issues, too.
