Joely has donated a piece of her art in support of Hestia. Hestia supports adults and children across London and the surrounding regions in times of crisis. Your donations could help a mother living in a domestic abuse refuge safely home school her child or provide a much needed weekly shopping booster.
“I think female strength is about pushing beyond the boundaries we find ourselves in, and challenging those who are surprised”
In a world where no condition is permanent, Joely finds herself gaining inspiration from what you could call “urban imperfections”, which are often derived when exploring the more derelict areas of towns, cities & built environments. She takes visual cues and snippets from architectural forms, textures and surfaces and this is represented through the characteristics of the materials she uses within her work to create a unique aesthetic that resembles a derelict ‘chic’ visual with accents and bursts of colour. She is also intrigued by the ideologies surrounding ‘the Anthropocene’ and the man made and will often re-use single use plastic in her work to create different textures and surfaces.
