Sabrina has donated a piece of her art in support of Hestia. Hestia supports adults and children across London and the surrounding regions in times of crisis. Your donations could help a mother living in a domestic abuse refuge safely home school her child or provide a much needed weekly shopping booster.
“There is a way out, with so much life on the other side”
Sabrina Gevaerd is a Brazilian illustrator who lives and works in London. She likes to think of her work as an emotional landscape that translates thoughts into images. It has accompanied the words of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway, Haruki Murakami’s South of the Border, West of the Sun. Across the pond you can find her within the pages of Woman on Top of the World, from Quercus Books. She had her work exhibited in Brighton at the Family Store , London at Hyperspace and Paris at BAM, concluding the end of her artistic residency there.
Art by Sabrina
She likes to think of herself as a translator, someone who searches visual synonyms from stories and thoughts. Her inspiration comes from this process, but in a very intuitive way. She allows herself to be flooded with feelings and start unraveling a thread, into a line, into an image.
