Challenge

To slow down the spread of COVID-19, many European countries have declared a state of emergency. As a result, many businesses in the hospitality industry have been forced to close their doors, likely for months to come. For bars, this means a full stop to their business, with no alternatives to generate income.

Seeing that many of these businesses are small, private enterprises – with an estimated average cash buffer of only about 20 days – weeks of closure will have far-reaching consequences due to lack of cashflow.

Inspiration

We look forward to the day when we can all go and socialize in bars again – but for now we’re in solidarity with the barkeeper and his clientele.

Idea

To bridge the financial gap for bars in the coming weeks, we created a platform that enables loyal customers to pre-order their beers to generate cashflow for their favorite bars.

Alken Maes will support the initiative even further by giving the first 400 pils to the bars.

Growth

The platform was featured in leading Belgian press, followed by a dedicated email to affiliated bars on how to take part and share the campaign with their followers.
