Suits for Heroes

Challenge

Raise funds for personal protective equipment (PPE) for our real-life heroes – Philippine health workers, while honoring the work that they do and inspiring a scared population in lockdown.

Inspiration

Health workers are real-life superheroes, and they need our help for their PPEs. How can we help them suit up? Just like superheroes who suit up before heading into battle, frontliners need their own gear too.

Idea

Donations were collected via the website www.suitsforheroes.com, and 50% of that amount Comic Odyssey matched in store credit for each donor. Comic Odyssey and Wunderman Thompson worked with renowned Filipino comic book artists to create tribute fanart, including Leinil Yu, Stephen Segovia, Kajo Baldisimom, Whilce Portacio, Mico Suayan and Harvey Tolibao (with Levi Ramirez on colors), and these exclusive pieces were put up for auction to raise even more funds.

Growth

In the first four months the campaign raised 130,000 pesos that was donated to Kaya Natin, a non-profit that promotes leadership with integrity in the Philippines, and the Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation, to be used to purchase PPEs.
